Most brides think they can’t afford to have their dream wedding. Well this bride found a way to create her wedding on a dime! She did most of it herself with the help of friends and family.

Joshua & Brooklyn

Joshua and Brooklyn had a truly smashing relationship, literally! They met when Joshua hit Brooklyn’s car by accident. Later, after the couple exchanged insurance information and fell in love, they were engaged.  Their engagement photo session was with Nashville photographer, Tara Kneiser. The entire experience was so wonderful that they immediately knew they wanted to book Tara for their wedding.

Brooklyn originally planned an outdoor wedding, but tornado warnings caused the ceremony to be moved indoors where the reception was held in the church gymnasium. Inside the church, the decor  primarily featured peacock feathers. They were used in the centerpieces, hairpieces, on top of the wedding cake and in the bride’s bouquet. All of which Brooklyn made with the assistance of friends and family. These elements along with the twinkling lights strung above the reception hall, created a starry night vibe indoors!

Brooklyn & Joshua put most of their money into what they valued most, the photography, which meant she needed to be crafty when thinking of ways to cut corners. Instead of asking for money, the couple requested that guests donate their talents instead. For example, friends of the couple who were in a praise and worship band donated music.  The bride bought her dress, by Beautiful Bride, and the groom’s tux at a steal on Overstock.com. When all was said and done, this wedding not only showcased the love of Brooklyn and Joshua, but also the love of their families and friends for them.

Congratulations, Joshua & Brooklyn! Thank you for sharing your inspirational DIY wedding with us. For more of Tara’s great work visit her blog here.

Monday July 19th

Welcome back from the weekend, Pantry readers! It looks like it’s turning out to be a dreary and stormy Monday here in Philadelphia, but we’ve got a sunny Tennessee affair from Nashville wedding photographer Tara Kneiser of Dixie Pixel to remedy that!

Ashleigh & Miguel

Ashleigh & Miguel met playing softball and baseball, respectively, in college (please note his adorable chucks embroidered below that read “10 loves 00″ – their jersey numbers). They tied the knot on June 19 after a year-long engagement. Ashleigh & Miguel were wed at Twin Cedar Farms in Rockford, Tennessee; Ashleigh chose the venue for its relaxed atmosphere and gorgeous setting. The wedding colors were horizon and cornflower blue and yellow, with a little bit of green and orange sprinkled in the flowers.  Faye Green of Decoration Creations was in charge of the decor and flowers.  The cake and cupcakes came from The Bakery, and since Ashleigh & Miguel both LOVE barbecue, Buddy’s Bar-B-Q catered!

Here’s a snippet from the bride: “With the help of our family and good friends all the planning was a success and everything was done.  We had a good year to plan, so things were done little by little, except we did have those last minute details that didn’t get done til the week of.  Through this whole journey, some of the moments that will be treasured most are those with our family and friends during showers and all the fun surprises.  The best part of the wedding day was the reception.  Everything about it, from the food to the music was perfect.  Seeing everyone smiling, dancing, and having a great time, made our night.  Deejay Abel had everyone on their feet the whole night.  Our wedding was definitely a dream come true, and with the help of our amazing photographer, Tara Kneiser from Dixie Pixel Photography, we will be able to relive this moment forever.”

Congratulations, lovebirds! Big thanks to Tara for sending us the photos from this wedding – check out her blog to see more of her wedding photography…it rocks!
